• LATEST NEWS!: The Grand Congregation 27th October 2007

Nocturnal Customs traveled down to Wellington to compete in the Body Art Rocs competition as part of The Grand Congregation. We had a great time and I sang one of my songs while Phloss performed for the judges and audience. The trip down was made easier with the assistance of Dee Salt who drove most of the way there and back. We met up with Phloss and Hayden and Wellington Airport after finally stashing some luggage in a motel lobby as it was too early to check in. After a quick McDee's breakfast we hit the basin reserve and started setting up for an epic day of gluing and body painting. 7pm hit and our model was dragged into the basin and trapped in darkness for an hour as tours of guests were taken into their unsuspecting lairs. While they were occupied I too the opportunity to dash back to the hotel room to have a shower and get changed. Then at 8pm the performance began. I had missed all the tours and dinner as I was wanting for Dee to return with Hayden who had locked his hotel room key inside the room. Finally came the time for creature and prosthetics and my turn for some stage fright as I hadn't sung live in 12 years. The music was a beat early throwing me off and making the backing vocals out of sync so I had to repeat a line to sync up and as we had never had a proper rehearsal with the correct starting point Phloss didn't now what her final lyric mar was and stepped off the stage early and then thrown off by the continuing vocals turned around to get back on stage but not before I had realized what was happening and stopped singing to disappear shamefully backstage. Otherwise I thing it went damn well given the lack of sleep and food.

Hit on the shot of Phloss on stage on the right and you can see her dance and me sing live at the basin reserve! >>>

In production this year is Nocturnal the digital draft of the feature Movie which should begin production proper in mid 2008. After meeting the wonderful contestants from the NZ Body Arts Awards I have a great network of artists for the construction of the final werewolf. meanwhile we can block out scenes, work out the finer points of lighting and sound using the second prototype head created form the NZ Body Art Awards. The teaser is a little taste of the gritty, gory comic book style I intend to carry through to the final movie. David, the star of the movie and myself have been utilizing any spare moment we have into the details of Nocturnal and we are still looking for crew interested in helping us make our tale of werewolves in the Waitakere's a reality.
What do you do while your working on an application for the enterprise allowance to start your custom guitar business? You write songs and play guitars of course! Black Spiral Dancer is my concept band featuring me and eventually a host of guest musicians. The project will be yet another way to get the branding Nocturnal Customs noticed and an opportunity to express my musical compositions and the sounds that can be formed from these custom guitars and basses! Hit the Angel to your right and get taken to the Black Spiral where you can listen to five of my demo tracks!!

  • YETI A SMASH HIT!

Although snow may have been a problem for this years winter festival organizers at least one person there will be enjoying the cold weather. That would be the man modeling the Yeti costume for Brand Events this year. The Yeti even caught the eye of WETA Workshops Richard Taylor during the NZ Body Art Awards judging panel and was a huggable hit throughout the day.

  • NOCTURNAL CUSTOMS LIVES!

A long time coming but finally here NOCTURNAL CUSTOMS is finally a living breathing business with it's first custom job being the hairy white Yeti built for BRAND EVENTS to showcase during the 2007 Winterfest. I think the highlight of this whole experience so far has been winning a WETA airbrush for my Werewolf costume after only being in business for a grand total of 48 hours. I can't wait to get a full body of work under my belt and really showoff my various talents on an international level but so far it's been a real buzz just seeing my work on the National news broadcasts every couple of days. One things for sure. The things I make sure capture peoples attention!!
